One of the things I want to emphasise on this blog is the importance of attending the shows everyone else is putting on. Thespians need to get into those comfy little flip-up chairs and watch some theatre. I'm very guilty myself of being supposedly too poor/busy/snobby to go and see so many amateur plays and productions and yet I'm the first to whinge when I get a small audience.
Especially now in Christchurch, we need to band together and support each other and underline that "community" aspect of community theatre. The best support we can give each other is by helping to get bums on seats, and of course the best method is to lead by example.
As soon as I hear about an upcoming show, I will post it here. And I will make sure that before every weekend, before you've booked your movie tickets or tried to think of some interesting pre-pub Saturday night entertainment, or how to occupy the kids tomorrow afternoon, you will be able to check back here to find out which dramatic spectacle eagerly awaits you.
To start with, I'd like to let you know about Riccarton Players' upcoming production of Badjelly the Witch. This show is being performed in association with Kidsfest and with the tickets only $10 per head, it will be an affordable school holiday activity the whole family can enjoy - to find out more about the production, and to learn who the stars of the show are, see the official page. Bookings can be made here. I've worked with a couple of the cast and the directors before and I have to say I'm very excited about seeing this one!
If you have any objections to anything posted on this blog, please raise yor concerns with me - I will remove offending material if necessary.
